Abstract

Abstract:

In recent years, sports in France have evolved beyond physical health benefits, becoming a vital tool for social integration and empowerment for people with disabilities. Sports now serve as a bridge connecting individuals with disabilities to their communities, enabling interaction and cohesion. Athletes with disabilities have a strong legal standing, ensuring their right to access sports without discrimination and protecting their dignity against stigma. This study examines the legal protections for disabled athletes in France, tracking the evolution of disability concepts in French law and their impact on athletes' rights. It also addresses the challenges they face, supported by legal and judicial insights, and concludes with key findings.
