Physical image of physically disabled athletes and their relationship to self-esteem

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the level of the concept of body image and self-esteem and the relationship between them among athletes with special needs; Body image and self-esteem questionnaires were applied to a sample of 84 disabled athletes practicing basketball and handball in Algerian sports clubs. We concluded that the concept of body image is high as well as self-esteem is high and that there is a correlation between the level of the concept of body image and the level of self-esteem among athletes with special needs..
