Social dimension of sport: a theoretical reading.

Sport is one of the most widespread human and social phenomena in societies around the world, which has made it the subject of academic interest among scholars in the various scientific circles that intersect with the concept in different dimensions, including what is meant; Economic, political, cultural, psychological and social.

Because of our scientific affiliation within the field of sociology, from our scientific paper we seek: to highlight sport relationship with sociology by focusing on; The concept of social dimension and social function of sport in sociological subtraction in classical and contemporary thought.

By projecting the theories adopted in our research on the concept of sport, we found that: Sport as a social concept seeks to study the relationship between sports groups, and we found that classical theories had a rather negative view, while the view of contemporary direction was more positive especially the functional input.
