Abstract

Abstract

         The current study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of performance-based assessment as a substitute for the school test and its impact on the quality of education from teachers' point of view in South Shouna governorate and to identify the strengths and weaknesses of performance-based assessment compared to school tests. It also aims to reveal the impact of performance-based assessment on the quality of education. The researcher used the descriptive and analytical approach. The study consisted of (39) items which were divided randomly on three fields. The population of the study consisted of all male and female teachers in South Shouna governorate (848 teachers) and the responses were (259). The researcher used SPSS. The study also showed that there was no statistical significance for the responses of teachers about using performance-based assessment as a substitute for schools exams and its impact on the quality of education attributabel to gender, educational qualification, years of experience, whereas there was statistical significance for female teachers about performance-based assessment obestacles. In the lights of the findings, the study gave many recommendations and proposals. One of them was encouraging all to do more research on performance-based assessment and authentic to develop the quality of education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
