Abstract

Currency, in general, constitutes a civilizational documentation of the peoples' journey and an important axis in their lives. It is a foundation that contributes to reading the civilizational hierarchy of peoples through the time periods, which are the cultural incubator for every society or country throughout its establishment and communication with other societies. Thus, the Republic of Iraq is one of the most important poles of civilizations that are deeply rooted in their origin and reference, similar to the Egyptian, Chinese, and Roman civilizations. The importance of our current research topic (References of the Metallic Currency in Iraq: A Reading of its Formal Systems) comes from the fact that this country has been exposed to civilizational shocks that had a direct impact on the culture within its civilizational stages. These shocks formed, through its successive eras, formal systems with a special style that left a trace on its artistic achievements. Since the metallic currency belongs in its production path to the art of sculpture, this currency can be considered a civilizational witness to the communication between the previous and subsequent eras in the field of formal systems. It may differ from what preceded it according to the civilizational transitions linked to political and administrative events, which often impose their authority on the currency specifically, because it is an important tributary that any political authority can use to impose its existence through a (currency) in circulation that achieves its active material presence among individuals.
