The role of tourism projects in the economic empowerment of Palestinian women in the Gaza Strip

Abstract

The research aims to study the role of tourism projects in achieving the economic empowerment of Palestinian women in the Gaza Strip. The researcher used the descriptive analytical approach, which relies on studying the phenomenon at the present time and as it is in reality. The researcher adopted the simple random sample method, consisting of 75 women who work in projects as well. The researcher used the questionnaire, which consisted of (37) items, based on the five-point Likert scale.

The researcher reached the following results:

1. Most of the respondents faced difficulties or problems at work, and the degree of problems and obstacles that limit economic empowerment in the Gaza Strip is medium. She suffers from problems in obtaining raw materials and problems in importing and exporting and the costs incurred by them because of women not being open to a large extent on these aspects, and she suffers from weaknesses in the methods of communication and communication with customers and methods of project management and marketing as a result of a weakness in personality.
2. The presence of women’s empowerment in the Gaza Strip appears in basic aspects that work to raise the level of empowerment and activate the role of women at the personal level or at the level of their own project. In decision-making at the level of family, politics, economy, job opportunities and equal wages
3. Among the most important recommendations recommended by the researcher:

Seeking to change the traditional concepts that limit the stereotypical social role of women, through education and community awareness campaigns that highlight the importance of women’s participation in development, and in the public and political life of their country and clarify the positive repercussions of this participation on all aspects of the country’s community life.
5. Confronting the cultural barriers to employing women and establishing their own projects due to their abilities in all areas of economic activity that they freely choose.

Providing loans and necessary support to finance working capital, develop equipment and capital assets, expand existing projects, or finance new entrepreneurial ideas for the development of small projects.
