Abstract

Population phenomena in developing societies such as Algeria are greatly and directly affected by the changes that occur at the various economic, social, cultural and even political levels. Studying any phenomenon such as mortality requires addressing two main aspects, namely, assessing the quality of data and its availability, in order to conduct accurate and extensive studies that allow access to results Scientific; Especially with the availability of modern indirect estimation techniques available to everyone.

Researchers differ in opinions about the course of the demographic transition in Algeria. We found that the path of mortality is the same as is customary when determining the stages of the demographic transition in Algeria, but its data are not without some defects, in addition to the fact that the nineties crisis temporarily affected the path of mortality change and coincided with the beginning of a new stage.
