Abstract

Many historians and other researchers in scientific specialties and fields have shown interest in the study of the history and evolution of the course of science, which draws a kind of complementarities between the different technical, social and human sciences.

Thus, several universities encourage specialties in the history of science such as the history of physics, mathematics, technology or medicine… because, knowledge and good mastery of the course of the development of scientific research and the successive scientific discoveries will guide us without too much difficulty to the knowledge of the trend taken by these sciences; the correction of many previous hypotheses or the discovery of a multitude of solutions to previously unresolved problems. The most amazing in this is that we can anticipate previous errors and misguidance.

Therefore, this study aims to highlight, for example -but not limited to- the history of the development of epidemiology and the path of this science in terms of developments, successes but also crises that have hit humanity. This science which conceals extraordinary discoveries and at the same time which faces many other epidemics that constitute a field of continuous research and concern among scientists and ... all of humanity.

For this, we will try to identify the most important scientific achievements as well as the obstacles that this field has faced through various historical stages.
