Abstract

The research aims to measure the role of active elites in political life and its relationship to the production of extremism. Arab societies revolve around the social and political behavior of the ruling elites. Also, external forces are considered among the central factors that played a major role in perpetuating the power of political and economic elites, so we discussed the stages these elites went through and tried to deduce their role in producing extremism. Political and economic elites have worked to preserve themselves using several tools such as revolutions, military coups, or democratic options and targeted elections. It became clear to us that the political elites have an active role in limiting stability and causing extremism in it. Instead of being an engine of development, they became an obstacle in its path.
