Abstract

Secularism, as it is closely related to building social frameworks for thinkers, has raised current problems through which it revealed the visions that societies have come to.

By asking the question: Do secular practices bring about progress and its continuity in societies, or not?

Accordingly, this study came with the aim of clarifying the source of secularism, and clarifying the role it plays. Is it limited to the principle of modernizing societies, as acknowledged by Muhammad Arkoun? Or is it confined to the principle that the horizon of secularism is sterile? Thus, an alternative was proposed as a forward-looking vision that rid Arab society in particular of the remnants of secularism, as explained by the thinker Taha Abdel Rahman within the legitimacy of the fiduciary.

And there is an examination of the legitimacy of the results achieved regarding the application of secularism, in Western and Arab societies alike.
